The layout is divided into two distinct zones:
  1. Discovery Stream (Left): A wide column for searching and browsing developer profiles.
  2. Community Sidebar (Right): A context-aware sidebar containing leaderboards, trends, and personalized suggestions.

1. Search & Discovery

The main content area is powered by a reactive search engine designed to handle both specific queries and passive browsing.
The search bar performs a real-time, multi-parameter query against the database. Entering a term filters results by:
  • Username (e.g., @syntax_wizard)
  • Display Name (e.g., "Alex Chen")
  • Skill Tags (e.g., React, Rust, PostgreSQL)

Zero-State Feed

When the search bar is empty, the page does not remain blank. Instead, it automatically loads a Random Developers feed. This ensures the page always feels alive and offers serendipitous connections every time a user visits.

2. Developer Cards & Interaction

Search results are displayed as rich-media cards providing a "talent snapshot" of each user.
  • Profile Identity: Displays the avatar, display name, and a truncated bio.
  • Skill Navigation: Each card lists the developer's top skills.
    • Interaction: Clicking a skill badge (e.g., Next.js) triggers the Skill Modal. This overlay instantly fetches and displays a list of other developers who also possess that specific skill, allowing for deep exploration of a tech stack.
  • Connection: A direct Follow button allows users to build their network without navigating away from the search results.

3. Intelligence Sidebar

The right-hand sidebar acts as the "pulse" of the platform, containing three distinct widgets driven by different data sources.

A. Streak Leaders (Gamification)

Top Streaks Widget
This panel highlights the top 3 users with the highest active daily visit streaks.
  • Ranking Logic: Users are ordered by their consecutive days active, with ties broken by whoever was active most recently.
  • Visuals: Uses a flame motif to emphasize consistency and "heat."
Trending Widget
Showcases developers gaining traction within the community.
  • Metrics: Rankings are calculated based on snippet views, profile visits, and star activity over the last 30 days.
  • Tooltip: Includes an info hover state explaining the ranking criteria to users.

C. Suggested for You (Personalization)

Relevant Devs Widget
This widget uses a matching algorithm to recommend developers who share your specific tech stack.
Authentication Gate: Because this feature relies on your personal profile data, it adapts based on your sign-in status:
  • Logged In: Shows a list of relevant peers based on your skills.
  • Guest (Logged Out): The list is replaced by a Locked State.
    • Displays a large icon.
    • Shows a "Login Required" message explaining the value of signing in.
    • Provides a direct CTA button to the /sign-in page.
Experience
The interface seamlessly detects your session status to ensure smooth loading without any visual flickering or interruptions.
