CLI Commands & Playbooks

CLI Commands in SnippKit allow you to store, parameterize, and execute reusable terminal commands and multi-step playbooks directly from the web interface or via SNiX CLI.
Unlike static text snippets, CLI Commands support Interactive Parameter Placeholders ({{variable}}), allowing dynamic variable substitution before running or copying commands.

Overview

Modern software development requires remembering dozens of complex terminal commands — Docker cleanup loops, Git rebase routines, Kubernetes pod debugging, or DB migration tools.
SnippKit’s CLI Commands hub (/commands) provides a centralized repository of executable commands equipped with parameter inputs, step-by-step playbooks, and terminal integration.
Direct App Shortcut
Open the live Command Center (/commands) or access your personal collection: .

What you can do

With CLI Commands, you can:
  • Store single & multi-step commands: Save single terminal commands or full multi-step execution playbooks.
  • Use parameter placeholders: Define variables using {{parameter_name}} syntax.
  • Run via SNiX CLI: Execute command sets directly in your terminal using snix run command <command-slug> or shortcut snix cmd <command-slug>.
  • Interactive overlay editor: Fill parameter fields dynamically in the web UI before copying or executing.
  • Browse & Sort: Discover trending, newest, or top-starred community commands.
  • Bookmark & Organize: Save commands to Starred Items or group them inside Folders.

Parameter syntax & placeholders

Parameter placeholders allow you to make commands reusable across different environments or projects without editing the core command string.

Syntax rules

Wrap any variable inside double curly braces: {{variable_name}}.
BASH
docker exec -it {{container_id}} /bin/bash

Interactive input modal

When you open a command containing parameters:
  1. SnippKit automatically parses all {{variables}} in the command.
  2. An interactive overlay presents input fields for each placeholder.
  3. As you type, the rendered command updates live in real time.
  4. Click Copy Command or Run via SNiX to execute with your substituted values.

Getting started

Creating a CLI command

  1. Click Create in the header and choose Command.
  2. Enter a clear title (e.g., Git Undo Last Commit).
  3. Enter your command string with optional parameters:
    BASH
    git reset --soft HEAD~{{commit_count}}
  4. Add description notes explaining what the command accomplishes.
  5. Choose visibility (Private or Public).
  6. Click Save.
Your command is stored instantly and accessible at /commands or in your .

Executing commands via SNiX CLI

With SNiX CLI installed on your machine, you can run saved command sets directly from your terminal:

1. Authenticate

BASH
snix auth login

2. Run a command playbook

Execute a command set by slug or ID:
BASH
snix run command <command-slug> # or fast shortcut: snix cmd <command-slug>
SNiX CLI fetches your command set, prompts for any defined parameters, and executes each step in order.

3. List your commands

View all command sets saved to your account:
BASH
snix commands list

Parameter Example Demo

BASH
# Template Command String: git checkout -b feature/{{ticket_number}}-{{feature_name}} # Interactive Substitution: # ticket_number -> 1042 # feature_name -> user-auth # Rendered Output: git checkout -b feature/1042-user-auth
