Shell Scripts
Shell Scripts are dedicated executable scripts — written in Bash, Shell, Zsh, PowerShell, or POSIX script — categorized automatically by SnippKit for quick retrieval, file downloads, and terminal execution via SNiX CLI.
Whether you maintain deployment scripts, environment setup routines, build automation, or system administration scripts, SnippKit keeps your shell scripts structured, versioned, and accessible from any machine.
Overview
Unlike general application source code, shell scripts are designed for direct execution in terminal environments.
SnippKit provides intelligent Language-Based Smart Routing: when you save a snippet using a script language, SnippKit automatically routes and organizes it under your profile’s dedicated Scripts collection (
/u/<username>/scripts).Direct App Shortcut

What you can do
With Shell Scripts, you can:
- Store terminal scripts: Save Bash, Zsh, POSIX Shell, and PowerShell scripts with syntax highlighting and line counters.
- Execute via SNiX CLI: Run scripts locally from your terminal without opening a browser using
snix run script <slug>or shortcutsnix script <slug>. - View & Inspect: Print raw script contents with syntax highlighting directly in your terminal using
snix snippets show <slug>. - Pull to Local Files: Save scripts directly to disk as executable
.shor.ps1files usingsnix snippets pull <slug>. - Group into Folders: Organize scripts into workspace Folders or collections.
- Tag & Search: Categorize scripts using tags like
devops,docker,ci-cd, ordatabase.
Supported script languages
SnippKit recognizes the following script languages and automatically maps them to your Scripts collection:
| Language | Extension | Default Syntax Mode |

Running scripts with SNiX CLI
SnippKit includes a command-line interface called SNiX CLI (
@snippkit/cli) for working with your script library directly inside your terminal session.1. Install SNiX CLI
Install the global CLI via NPM:
BASH
npm install -g @snippkit/cli
2. Authenticate your CLI
Log in using your secret SnippKit API Key:
BASH
snix auth login
Verify your active authenticated identity at any time:
BASH
snix whoami
3. List available scripts
Display your saved scripts and snippets directly in terminal output:
BASH
snix snippets list
4. Execute a script locally
Fetch and execute a script in an isolated runner environment:
BASH
snix run script <script-slug>
# or fast shortcut:
snix script <script-slug>
5. Inspect script contents
Print the script source code to standard output with syntax highlighting:
BASH
snix snippets show <script-slug>
6. Pull script to a file
Download the script content directly to a local file on your machine:
BASH
snix snippets pull <script-slug> -f deploy.sh
Organizing & sharing scripts
- Folders: Group scripts inside workspace Folders alongside related application snippets.
- Starred Scripts: Bookmark your daily administrative scripts in Starred Items for quick access.
- Custom Slugs (Pro+): Assign custom short slugs (e.g.,
snix script setup-env) for clean terminal invocations.
Limits & best practices
- Plan-based line & size limits: Scripts adhere to standard snippet limits based on your account plan (e.g., 150 lines / 5 KB on Free, 600 lines / 20 KB on Pro).
- Environment variables: Avoid hardcoding credentials inside scripts; use environment variables or parameter placeholders.
- Local Decryption: All scripts fetched via SNiX CLI are decrypted locally before execution.
