Starred Items is your personal favorites hub in SnippKit, allowing you to bookmark frequently used code snippets and CLI commands for instant access.

Instead of searching through global feeds or broad tags every time, starring items keeps your most critical tools one click away.

Whether you are working on a multi-project setup or repeating routine DevOps tasks, bookmarking key resources saves time and reduces context switching.

SnippKit provides a dedicated Starred Items workspace (/starred) split into two dedicated views: Snippets and Commands.

What you can do

With Starred Items, you can:

Star Snippets and Commands: Bookmark any public or owned snippet or command with a single click.
Dual-Tab Organization: Easily switch between Snippets and Commands tabs.
Instant Search: Search within your starred collection by title, language, commands, or tags.
Keyboard Navigation: Use keyboard shortcuts (Ctrl + / or Cmd + /) to focus the search bar instantly.
One-Click Unstar: Remove items from your favorites directly from the starred feed or item cards.

Getting started

Quick Links

Open Starred Items (/starred) — View all your bookmarked snippets and commands.

How to star an item

Locate any snippet or command in your feed, discovery page, or user profile.
Click the Star icon (★) on the item card or detail view header.
The star turns yellow (★), indicating the item has been added to your favorites collection.

How it works

When you star an item, SnippKit records a bookmark relationship in the database under the stars relation.

Data Model: Relates your authenticated user_id to either a snippet_id or a command_id alongside a creation timestamp.
Private Favorites List: Your starred collection is private to your account — other users cannot view what items you have bookmarked unless shared explicitly.

Searching & filtering

The Starred Items workspace includes built-in live filtering:

Tab switching

Snippets Tab: Displays all bookmarked code snippets rendered in visual code card grids.
Commands Tab: Displays all bookmarked CLI commands with parameter previews and quick-copy buttons.

Live search filter

Type into the search input to filter your starred items in real time.
Filters match against snippet titles, tags, command names, and command strings.
Press Ctrl + / (or Cmd + /) from anywhere on the /starred page to jump focus straight into the search box.

Managing favorites

Unstarring an item

If you no longer need quick access to an item:

Click the filled Star icon (★) on the item card inside /starred or anywhere else in SnippKit.
The item will be removed from your favorites list immediately without deleting the underlying snippet or command.

Automatic updates

If a creator deletes a public snippet that you have starred, SnippKit automatically cleans up the star relation, ensuring your favorites list stays clean and error-free.
