Ghost Send (Ephemeral Sharing)
Ghost Send is SnippKit’s secure, zero-knowledge ephemeral sharing service for transmitting sensitive code snippets, API keys, database credentials, and environment configs via self-destructing links.
Once a Ghost Send link is accessed or its expiration timer lapses, the content is permanently deleted from SnippKit servers with no trace left behind.
Overview
Sharing credentials or sensitive code snippets over Slack, email, or unencrypted chat applications leaves persistent logs that risk data leakage.
Ghost Send introduces Burn After Reading functionality: payloads are encrypted on the client side, stored ephemerally, and permanently purged immediately after the recipient opens the link or the timer expires.
Direct App Shortcut
Open your live Ghost Send Dashboard (
/apps/ghost-send) or learn more at /services/ghost-send.What you can do
With Ghost Send, you can:
- Generate One-Time Links: Create secret links (
/g/<link-id>) that self-destruct after a single view. - Custom Expiration Timers: Set link expiration from 5 minutes up to 7 days.
- Passphrase Encryption: Add optional password protection for an additional layer of security.
- Zero-Knowledge Encryption: Payload data is encrypted locally before hitting the server.
- Manage Transmissions: View active, burned, and expired transmission links in your dashboard.

export const processPayment = async (data) => {
// validates and charges card
const apiKey = process.env.STRIPE_KEY;
if (!apiKey) throw new Error('Missing Key');
return stripe.charges.create(data);
};
Sender
Encrypts data locally & generates a one-time link.
Waiting for incoming link...
Receiver
Decrypts content. Data burns after viewing.
Getting started
Quick Links
- Open Ghost Send App (
/apps/ghost-send) — Create and manage active transmissions. - Ghost Send Service Page (
/services/ghost-send) — Explore encryption protocols and guides.
Creating a Ghost Send link
- Navigate to Ghost Send (
/apps/ghost-send). - Click New Transmission.
- Paste your secret payload or select an existing snippet.
- Choose your preferred expiration period (e.g., 1 Hour or Burn After Reading).
- Optionally enter a secret passphrase.
- Click Generate Link.
- Copy the generated
https://snippkit.com/g/<id>URL and share it with your recipient.
How it works (Zero-Knowledge Architecture)
Ghost Send enforces strict security protocols:
- Client-Side Encryption: Your text payload is encrypted before leaving your browser.
- Ephemeral Storage: Only the encrypted ciphertext is stored in the database alongside expiration metadata.
- Automatic Destruction: Upon access, the payload is rendered once to the recipient and immediately purged from database storage.
- No Server Logs: SnippKit retains zero copies, backups, or unencrypted server logs of burned transmissions.
Transmission Statuses
Inside your Ghost Send Dashboard, transmissions are categorized into three states:
- Active: The link is valid and waiting to be accessed.
- Burned: The link was accessed by the recipient and payload data has been purged.
- Expired: The expiration timer elapsed before access; payload was automatically deleted.
