JSON Structures & JaaS
JSON Structures in SnippKit provide specialized storage, formatting, validation, and API serving capability for JSON data files, API response mocks, and configuration templates.
SnippKit automatically routes JSON content into a dedicated JSON Structures workspace (
/u/<username>/json) and integrates directly with JaaS (JSON as a Service) for serving live HTTP REST endpoints.Overview
JSON is the primary data exchange format for web APIs, configuration files, and application state.
When you create or save a JSON snippet in SnippKit, the platform applies specialized JSON tooling:
- Syntax validation: Live linting against JSON format specifications.
- Tree Visualization: Expandable object nodes for deep data inspection.
- JaaS Endpoint Generation: Two-click transformation of JSON snippets into live HTTP REST endpoints.

Step-by-Step Activation Guide
Follow these steps to convert any JSON snippet into an active REST API endpoint:
- Set JSON Language: Save or edit a snippet and set its language to
jsonorjsonc. - Open Code View: Navigate to the snippet details page.
- Open Settings Menu: Click the three-dot menu icon (
...) in the editor header. - Enable JSON API: Select Serve as JSON API from the dropdown menu.
- View Live Endpoint: Click the Live API button to see your live URL and test GET requests.
- Private Snippets (Auth): If your snippet is private, pass an authorization header:
Authorization: Bearer <secret_key>. - Disable Access: Revoke endpoint access at any time via the three-dot menu by choosing Disable JSON API.

JaaS Integration Examples
Use your live JaaS endpoint (
https://snippkit.com/s/<snippet-id>/api/json) across any environment or frontend framework:fetch('https://snippkit.com/s/<snippet-id>/api/json')
.then(response => response.json())
.then(data => console.log(data))
.catch(error => console.error('Error:', error));Supported JSON types
SnippKit supports the following JSON formats:
- Standard JSON (
json): Standard key-value object specification. - JSON with Comments (
jsonc): Extended JSON supporting inline comments (commonly used intsconfig.jsonorsettings.json). - Servable JaaS Payload (
is_servable_json): Any JSON snippet configured for raw HTTP serving.
Formatting & Conversion Tools
SnippKit includes integrated developer tools specifically designed for JSON structures:
- JSON Formatter & Validator:
/tools/json-formatter— Fix invalid syntax, format indentation, or minify payloads. - JSON to CSV Converter:
/tools/json-csv-converter— Export array payloads into downloadable CSV spreadsheets. - JSON to YAML Converter:
/tools/json-yaml-converter— Convert API payloads into Kubernetes or CI/CD configuration files.
